We have a more detailed guide available if required. Please click here for it as a PDF and here for this Quick Setup Guide.

Coda Music

A short guide to installing, opening and safely testing Coda Music before any live ceremonial use.

Version 1 tester guide. Music playback uses MP3 files only.

1 Before You Start

Tester Software

Coda Music is being shared for early testing. Please test carefully before live ceremonial use.

Use Real Speakers

Test with the same Bluetooth or wired speaker you intend to use in the room.

Keep a Backup

Keep another music method available while testing and during early use.

2 Download and Install

Register your interest

Go to https://www.masonicwebsite.org/register-interest-in-coda-music/.

Open the download page

Go to https://www.cloudcortexcommunications.co.uk/coda-music-download/.

Use the emailed password

The download page is password protected. The password will be emailed to testers who register their interest.

Download and unzip

Download CodaMusicSetup-1.0-Windows.zip, right-click it, choose Extract All, and open the extracted folder.

Run the installer

Double-click CodaMusicSetup-1.0-Windows.exe and follow the setup screens.

3 First Opening

Open Coda Music

Use the desktop shortcut or Start Menu entry.

Select the correct profile

If profiles are shown, choose the lodge or organisation you are testing.

Restore a backup if supplied

Use Other Stuff > Backup and Restore if you have been given a Coda Music backup file.

Run Setup Check

Use Other Stuff > Setup Check to review anything that may need attention.

4 Basic Playback Test

Selecting a music title does not start playback. This is deliberate, so music does not begin by accident.

Select a ceremony

Choose the ceremony type, such as General Meeting or Initiation.

Select a music piece

Tap or click the music title you want to test.

Press Play

The main music track starts.

Press Finish

Coda Music should move into the ending music with a smooth crossfade, where one track fades down while the ending track fades in.

Press Stop only when needed

Stop ends all music immediately.

5 Speaker Test

  • Connect the speaker before testing.
  • Confirm Windows is using the correct audio output.
  • Test the room volume.
  • If using Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth / wireless speaker warm-up in Settings.
  • Try a 2 second warm-up first.
  • Confirm the first note of the music is not missed.

6 Live Ceremony Mode

Live Ceremony Mode is for actual ceremony operation. It keeps setup, profile editing, registration and support options away from the main playback screen.

Before using Live Ceremony Mode in a real ceremony, test Play, Finish and Quick Fade with the actual speaker and room volume.

7 What to Report

  • Did the app install cleanly?
  • Did the correct profile open?
  • Could you find the music you needed?
  • Did Play start reliably?
  • Did Finish sound natural?
  • Was Quick Fade useful?
  • Did Bluetooth need a warm-up delay?
  • Was anything confusing, stressful or unclear?
